As a pet owner, it should be fairly easy to find a local, trustworthy place you can rely on to let your pets stay for a night or two while you are out of town or on vacation. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case as many pet care facilities do not promote the fact that they may have accreditations from companies and organizations intended for pets’ needs. Plus, solely relying on reviews from other customers can be problematic because some users’ criteria for assigning 1-star reviews vs 5-star reviews is arbitrary and could vary wildly from person to person.
A pet care facility can build credibility with pet owners by clearly stating their standards of care through the promotion of any accreditations and listing the quality services the facility offers. The four most common accredited businesses/organizations in the DFW area that we will further explain below are: American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), Pet Care Services Association (PCSA)/American Boarding Kennel Association (ABKA), International Association of Canine Professionals (ASCP), and Better Business Bureau (BBB).
American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)
The AAHA seal is typically associated with pet hospitals and veterinarians that offer pet health care and boarding. This is an important seal to look for if you are looking for a place for elderly and physically/mentally ill animals.
